The Round 1 pairings for the FIDE World Cup 2025 in Goa, India, are officially out, and chess fans worldwide are set for an incredible month of action.
















A total of 207 players from over 80 countries will compete in the knockout event, while the top 50 seeds  including D. Gukesh, Wesley So, Anish Giri, Arjun Erigaisi, and R. Praggnanandhaa, receive a direct entry to Round 2.

Round 1 promises exciting clashes between rising prodigies and seasoned grandmasters, featuring names like Abhimanyu Mishra, Faustino Oro, Andy Woodward, Leinier Dominguez, and Levon Aronian.

With $2 million in prize money and three qualification spots for the 2026 Candidates Tournament, every game will carry massive weight.
Goa is ready. The World Cup begins.
