How India Successfully Hosted Chess’ Biggest Carnival Chennai Chess Olympiad 2022

Considered one of the most successful international chess tournaments organized in India, the 44th international chess Olympiad 2022 welcomed 343 teams from 187 countries trained through the best online chess academy from all around the world. Organized successfully by the government of Tamil Nadu and India as a country, the chess Olympiad served as a benchmark for further tournaments. The honorable Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi Ji along with the Indian chess grandmaster Viswanathan Anand launched the torch relay event for the 44th chess Olympiad in New Delhi. With the combined effort of the Parliament, sports federations, and the government of Tamil Nadu, Chennai served as the hosting city which gave India international recognition.
India was able to successfully organize the tournament through its concerted efforts and collaboration with the government of Tamil Nadu. Various facilities and services were provided that helped in ensuring the success of the event. These are as follows:
- Organising the Torch Relay Event:
A torch relay event was organized at Indira Gandhi stadium in New Delhi marking the beginning of the 44th chess Olympiad in India. It was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India PM Narendra Modi along with the Indian just grandmaster Viswanathan Anand and FIDE president Arcady Dvorkovich. The dorsal event was carried out successfully with the aim of taking the same to 75 cities before it reached its destination. The city of Malappuram in Chennai was selected as the place for the event which kicked off successfully.
- Making All the Necessary Arrangements and Budget Allocations:
The government of Tamil Nadu worked closely with the Parliament and dedicated sports associations to set out a sum of ₹92 crores for organizing the chess Olympiad event. Moreover, a holiday was organized for all the schools, colleges, and non-essential government offices and institutes for the event's opening day, i.e. July 28.
- Availability of All the Necessary Assistance and Support Solutions for The Participants:
Proper accommodation facilities and access to all the necessary utilities like parking, water supply, power et cetera were made available for the participants. Moreover, a dedicated control room was also set up that can help in making available all the necessary assistance and support solutions to the participants and guests. The best services were delivered to ensure the success of the event.
- Making All the Necessary Arrangements for The Audience:
Apart from the participants, the government even makes all the necessary arrangements for the spectators and audience. To ensure complete attendance at these stadiums, dedicated transportation solutions like buses were arranged that were completely free of cost. Five buses carrying visitors to the place of the chess Olympiad were arranged by the transport Association of Tamil Nadu.
- Effective Promotions:
To promote the chess Olympiad, A R Rahman, a worldwide famous singer, and lyricist were selected to compose the official anthem for the event. Famous movie star Rajinikanth and Chief Minister MK Stalin were also roped in to successfully promote the event.
Taught in the best chess training Academy in India, 25 participants from the country itself competed in winning the tournament. India was able to successfully organize and carry out the 44th chess Olympiad through its efforts and available resources.
