How to choose a Chess Coach

Are you also thinking about enrolling your child in Chess classes? Well, finding the right chess coach may not be an easy task.

How to choose a Chess Coach
1.Make sure you have enough options to choose from:- Most important thing while selecting the best chess coach for your child would be having enough chess coaches to choose from. When there is lack of options or limited number of options you can only choose the best among the available options which may or may not be the best for you. Some children learn better with some particular attributes that may be lacking in the coach you've chosen. So what will you do now? Since you do not have any more chess coaches available, you might have to continue with what you originally chose. Hence, choose institutes that provide the best chess coaches globally.

2. Take demo classes before enrolling your child:- Yes, you can always take the demo class and learn the potential of the coach and the compatibility between the coach and your child. When you feel like your child might not benefit from a certain coach you can try some other coach. If your child is too young you can sit with them during the class and help build a better rapo with the coach. Coaches are trained to make the classes fun for your kid and kids as young as 4 years old can also enjoy the chess classes.
3. Write down your expectations from the coach:- It is quite often so that you had different expectations and that is exactly why you do not like what is already being done. Hence, it is extremely important to jot down the points/ expectations. What is it that you want the coach to deliver to your child? What skill set should your child build by the end? Even when you don't know anything about chess, you can still have some expectations which you can communicate to your Child's coach. And when this is done your child's coach will tell you if it is possible or not. You can decide further from there.

4. Track your child's progress:- Even after many classes if it feels like your child is not making any progress, then communicate it to the coach. If the coach responds well and is willing to take the necessary actions to help your child do better at chess, you have nothing to worry. But if the coach is not able to try different approaches or even after trying different approaches if your child still doesn't make any progress then you can choose to change your coach.

5. Make sure your child is happy:- Learning anything should be fun for the kid so that they excel in it. It should definitely not feel like a burden. If your child is unhappy with the classes or if your child feels like the classes are a burden, there is no point in continuing with the same resources which includes the coach too. Make sure your child is happy, if your child is happy they will learn better and understand better and a good chess coach should be able to help your child feel at ease with the game.
