We have carefully collected the following points to end all your doubts and provide you a clear sense of why chess is good for your child.

  1. With brain food, your child needs brain exercise:- You might have heard about some of the famous brain foods. You might have also included many of them in your child's diet. But food alone cannot help your child build their cognitive skills. Frequent brain exercise is also required and chess does this job diligently. Not only does chess provide good brain exercise but is also fun, therefore your child will enjoy  their brain exercise which is not possible with the other options for brain exercise.

  1. Increases memory power:- How does chess help your child increase his memory power? Well, chess is a well constructed game having six different pieces that have different movements. Your child not only learns the movement of these pieces but also has to use them in a clever way to win the game. After every move, your child will naturally analyse the position and plot their next move. With practice the number of moves planned will also increase. This helps your child with their memory.

  1. Chess is not limited to the game:- Ofcourse chess provides good exercise to your child's brain and helps them with their memory. You might even notice how your child performs better in school. But the chess is not just limited to the game and academics. Chess has a great influence on your child's life too. Life is not always about winning. You can plan well and analyse every decision but sometimes you lose and that is okay. Chess teaches your child how to accept defeat but not lose confidence. This will help your child to try again and teaches the importance of not giving up.

  1. Increase in concentration to find better solutions:- You might have already come across the first half of this point. Chess helps in increasing your child's concentration. And ofcourse it is true. Until the game ends, your child has to focus on the game and the goal is to give checkmate to their opponent and win. But there is more to it. Your child may concentrate on a problem and solve it but it does not help if they are unable to find better solutions. Good solutions are okay, but better solutions make all the difference. Chess helps your child to constantly look for a better move, that is, your child is trained to look for a better solution. This helps your child in all other activities to loon for a better solution.

  1. Helps your child develop their logical brain:-  Chess helps your child develop their logical brain by making them think about the best move possible. While playing chess, your child has to process all the information on the piece, that including the 64 squares, the pieces on the board and their location, the available space for the movement of all the pieces, pieces under attack etc. After taking in all this information your child has to think of one move that is the best in that particular position. And this helps your child develop their logical brain.

  1. Helps your child strategise better:- Whenever we are faced with a problem in life, most people experience panic. This is because we have not equipped our brain to stay calm and think about a solution. But when your child plays Chess, even when they are in danger, they are taught to stay calm and strategise the best way possible to win. They will think better and decide on one move instead of panicking and losing the game altogether. This particular skill helps your child strategise better whenever they encounter a difficult situation.

  1. Helps your child have a better observation:- Chess is a game which consists of 64 squares, 6 different pieces and 32 pieces on the board. At any given position your child has to observe every square, every piece, every possible movement, every piece under attack and every chance to attack, every way possible to protect important pieces and ofcourse look out for checkmate. This helps your child observe better.

  1. Increases IQ level :- Studies have shown that chess increases your child's IQ level and helps them with their academics. With the increased load of academics, many kids struggle with their academics. Chess helps increase your child's IQ and therefore eases this load. With increased practice and training, your child can become more and more efficient and achieve much more than they normally can.
